Race 1: The Balquhidder ENDURO - Sat 12:00

The Balquhidder ENDURO PLUS takes riders up into "Kirkton", the hanging glen above Balquihidder, to a height of around 1700ft (550m) offering some of the most spectacular scenery in the area.

Riders will have 2 runs of a 9km enduro course that incorporates 5 singletrack downhill trails, the Bigfoot, The Troll, The Hobo, The Hippy and The Goblin. (All can be found on Trailforks.com and Strava.com)

This is an ENDURO PLUS event which means that riders will be set off at timed intervals from the start gate at the top of the highest singletrack trail and then be timed over the FULL 9km downhill course including the liason link sections between the downhill trails.  This means that in between each singletrack downhill trail there will be ample opportunity to overtake on sections of wide forestry track - See route map

TIMETABLE:

1200 - RIDER CHECK-IN OPENS - race number issue at Balquhidder Village Hall

1400 - RUN 1: First riders out the start gate

1600 - RUN 2: First riders out the start gate

Rider's fastest time (from their two timed runs) will be used to determine their overall ranking in their age and gender category. (Male/Female U16, 17-39 and 40+)

1800 - PRIZE GIVING & RESULTS announced at the start of the evening Bike Fest PARTY at the village hall.

Race 2: The Balquhidder X-Country - Sun 10.30

KXC1000
With a brand new XC loop for 2018 the BXC will offer riders a mass MTB start and action like we've never seen before at the Balquhidder Bike Fest

From the start-line riders will have a 1.6km race up the Glen Buckie road to be first to squeeze onto the all new XC trail called the Elf. This new rolling singletrack trail offers riders a series of short climbs + descents with a couple of technical sections before emerging back onto the ascent road.

Riders must then do two further runs down the Elf (a total of 3 Elves) before racing back to the finish line at the village hall.

This XC race is short enough to hammer, but long enough to knacker!... and it could all be over in sub 25 minutes for the fastest riders.

The Balquhidder X-Country (or 3 elves as we like to know it) is a race for just about everyone with a mountain bike. Whether you're a champion or a novice and whatever your ability, you can give it a go on Bike Fest weekend.

This is a non-technical course that you can ride at YOUR speed! There are male and female categories in U16, 17-39 and 40+ age groups and this event is all about having a shot and setting your own benchmark or personal best.

TOP RIDERS!

At the top of the field will be some very accomplished riders, for whom a good time will surely be well under 25 minutes! In the last few years Ian Nimmo, Emily Field (Scottish junior female XC champion) and Charlie Aldridge set the pace in the cross country races in Kirkton Glen. This year we hope to see them return once again to defend their Balquhidder titles, along with you and everyone else as challengers!

SUNDAY TIMETABLE:

1000 - RIDER CHECK-IN OPENS - race number issue at Balquhidder village hall

1100 - MASS START for all riders

1230 - PRIZE GIVING AND RESULTS will be announced at the village hall
